DANBURY, Conn., December 11, 2001 -- Pitney Bowes (NYSE: PBI) offers outstanding technology and capabilities for Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment, according to a new report by Doculabs, the independent industry analyst and consulting firm specializing in e-business technologies.

According to the Doculabs report, entitled "Bill and Invoice Presentment and Settlement" (BIPS), Digital Document Delivery (D3), developed by Pitney Bowes, was built with an outstanding architecture. The report states that "Pitney Bowes understands that e-presentment is integral to any organization's overall e-commerce strategy, and with this in mind has architected its Digital Document Delivery (D3) solution around the J2EE specification and Enterprise Java Beans."

Doculabs' report also maintains that, "Products built in Java and architected around standards such as J2EE provide platform independence and the ability to leverage industry-standard application servers and other components within the enterprise IT environment. Such an approach provides scalability, reliability, and performance benefits."

The Doculabs report also stressed the importance of a hosted BIPS solution, noting that Pitney Bowes is one of the few companies that currently offers both software and hosted options.
