Triple
Play--Pitney Bowes Launches
Three e-Billing Sites this Week
Danbury,
Conn (June 29, 2001) -- The relatively static Electronic
Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP) industry will get a major
boost as Pitney Bowes (NYSE: PBI) launches three separate
EBPP sites for the Jersey Post, BHC Company, and South Central
Connecticut Regional Water within one week.
The launch
of the BHC site is also the one of the fastest launches completed
to date. Both Connecticut implementations leverage the partnership
between Pitney Bowes docSense, the software and services arm
of Pitney Bowes and CheckFree, the leading provider of electronic
payment services (NASDAQ: CKFR). Pitney Bowes docSense is
a Certified Premier partner of CheckFree, which offers access
to a comprehensive distribution and payment network of nearly
275 financial services companies.
"This
is a clear sign that interest in the digital document delivery
business is increasing," said Karl Schumacher, president of
Pitney Bowes docSense. "Our ability to handle the requirements
of three implementations underscores our continued commitment
to be dominant in the EBPP and EIPP spaces for both consumers
and businesses. We are exhilarated and we're very proud of
our success."
"What
is clear from this week's activity is that EBPP is a growth
industry with a bright future and that Pitney Bowes will play
an increasingly active role in that future," said Schumacher.
"We are the only e-presentment vendor that can combine a global
reach and financial stability with the functionality of a
true Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) architecture."
